Orphan Hosting
Imagine your life as a child living in an orphanage. No Mom or Dad. No personal space. Nothing that "really" belongs to you. No love. You are just a statistic. You really don't matter to anyone. And then... one day someone says, "You're going for a visit to America". Your heart leaps out of your chest. You are excited and scared at the same time. What will you do in America? You can hardly wait.
This is one of Manifold Mercies most meaningful projects.
We have heard all the questions and arguments from skeptics, such as "Why would you want to spend all that money bringing orphans to America?" "Won't it just make them sad when they have to go back?"
The goal of Manifold Mercies is to show these kids a positive, healthy family in action, to make lifelong connections between the kids and caring Americans, to give them a cultural experience that they can cherish for a lifetime, and (most importantly) introduce them to the loving message of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Would we deny them this experience just because it cost a lot or it might make them sad?? And though our hope is for every orphan in the world to be adopted into forever families, that is not the goal of the hosting program (although many times adoptions are a result of hosting).
The kids will come to America for approximately 4 weeks. During that time they will do things like horseback riding, skating, the zoo, museums, the beach, the swimming pool, English lessons, Bible study, and life skills training. And upon their return, we make a commitment to them; to stay connected to them through letter writing projects, internet connections, and visits from us on outreach mission trips to their orphanages. We follow up with them throughout the year to encourage them in education and life. We hope to help them find their talents and reach their full potential.
